Hi!  I'm Bambi!  My foster mom found me alone in her neighborhood.  She usually fosters Pyr puppies, but she said I could be an honorary Pyr. So here I am listed with all of these big white dogs.  I’m a 4-month old Dutch Shepherd mix.  Full-grown I will be 50 to 67 lbs.

I'm a gentle, affectionate girl. My two foster dog siblings are showing me the ropes.  I like to run and play with them.  Sometimes I jump too much, and they remind me good girls don’t jump up on other dogs or people.  I would like to play with my cat sibling, but she doesn’t like dogs.  She hisses at me to go away.  That’s when I find something else to do, like play with a squeaky toy or chew a bone.  I can squeak my squeaky toy for 10 minutes at a time! Sometimes I throw it in the air and then go get it and chew on it some more.

I’m a bit nervous, but the big dogs are teaching me how to walk with them on a leash.  I don’t pull but sometimes I need some encouragement to keep going.

I’m 90% house trained.   I ring the bell on the back door to let everyone know I want to go outside.  I haven’t made any mistakes lately, but we’ll leave a margin of error since I’m still a puppy.

I am crate trained and don’t make a fuss when foster-mom puts me in the crate at night.  She says I’m the easiest foster she’s had.

This weekend I start puppy first grade with Every Dog Austin to keep me engaged and doing good girl stuff.  I will be an active dog and need an active family that can make sure my mental and physical needs are met each day.

I’m up to date on my shots, and I’ll be available to go home with my forever family after October 4 when my spay is complete.  I'm in Texas, but you know how this goes: I can be on the next transport to the PNW!

Do your research and call my foster mom.  She says I’m special and will make the perfect companion.

“As a breed, Dutch Shepherds tend to be loyal, reliable, alert, watchful, active, independent, intelligent, and intuitive. Obedience and discipline can be achieved with remarkable results. Gifted with a true shepherding temperament, they can work willingly together with their owners and can deal independently with any task they are assigned, being neither aggressive nor shy. They have a strong character and independence passed down from their herding ancestry.” https://www.nativebreed.org/dutch-shepherd/

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:

1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES THAT HAVE AT LEAST ONE MEDIUM TO LARGE YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOG that is age 1 or older. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.

2) These puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

3) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone must also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8+ hours a day.

4) We give preference to applicants with prior Great Pyrenees knowledge/experience.

5) Secure and visible fencing required.

6) You must have a plan in place to socialize your puppy properly.
