Anton is a very large Anatolian Shepherd who is about a year old. He had a rough start when he came to us. Something had attacked him and left him with a large gash on his leg, a broken tail, and a scared spirit. He was in a lot of pain and his tail had to be amputated. Now that he is past all that and free of the cone, his personality is starting to shine. He is a big boy at 96 lbs. and could probably stand to gain a few more. Anton is a sweet boy who loves to be loved but can be a little timid when meeting new people. However, if you’re patient and let him come to you, he warms up quickly. He does the Pyr paw to get your attention and he loves to have your attention once he trusts you. He gets along with the other dogs in the household but doesn’t appreciate when they get close to his food bowl. He’s starting to learn that toys are fun and so is playing with his foster brother out in the yard! He likes to go on walks and is learning leash manners. He has not been around children but given that he doesn’t really understand how big he is, older children would be best. We suspect he was formerly a rural dog because city noises can startle him a bit, but he’s getting used to them. He’s still a young boy, and hasn’t been very destructive, but seems to have a shoe fetish, so we keep an eye on him when he’s out of his crate. He sleeps in his crate. He doesn’t love it (he’d rather be with you), but he will go in and stay there quietly. He hasn’t had any accidents in the house and will stand by the door when he needs to go outside. Anton is very quiet but will alert you if he thinks there’s someone outside. He takes treats ever so gently. He is afraid of the vacuum. He likes chewing on Nylabones. This boy has overcome a rather traumatizing episode and deserves a home where he will be adored for the sweet soul he is. Are you that home?
